All on-site features at The VP are 100% free. You may chat, view/post in the forums, play games, view/join the Homepage Spotlight and more for absolutely no cost. Should you become a frequent visitor and wish to make a donation, it would be greatly appreciated.

Our Match Services are provided by outside companies. There is no charge to search and browse ads/profiles or to place your own ad/profile. But there is a subscription fee if you would like to respond to the ads/profiles of others.

What Is The Homepage Spotlight?

The Homepage Spotlight features the personal homepages of individual singles. You can browse these sites and get to know some interesting and exciting people or join and put your own page in the spotlight.


Who Can Join?

Any single adult (18 or over) who has their own homepage and meets the submission guidelines.

Please note this is a showcase for the homepages of individual singles. We do not accept singles services sites.


Why Should I Join?

The most popular reason is to get more "hits" to your homepage. You've worked hard to create it and want people to enjoy visiting but with so many great sites on the Web, it's difficult to attract new visitors on your own. How Do I Register My Chat Name?

To register your chat name click the Register button on the Login Page and complete the form. There is no guarantee you will get the registered name you request and The Virtual Playground For Singles reserves the right to deny name registration to anyone.

There is no charge for registration.

A note about registered names:  Once you have registered your name, you "own" that sequence of letters so you may capitalize all, some or any portion of the name when logging into the chat. No one else can register the same sequence of letters by simply capitalizing the name or typing it in lower case.


If I'm Registered For The Forums, Must I Register For Chat?

Yes. The forums and chat have different registration databases. We suggest you register the same name/password combination for both to make things easier for you to remember.


How Do I Chat Privately?

To initiate a private message session with another user, double click on his/her name in the User's List. A popup dialog will appear for you to communicate with the other user privately. For instructions on sending/receiving private messages to/from chatters in another room, see our Chat Help Page.

Singles Chat allows you to open multiple private chat windows simultaneously but you must un-highlight any previously highlighted names in the User's List before double clicking on another name to initiate a private chat session.


How Do I Use the Graphics and Sounds In The Chat?

Certain text and audio emoticons are recognized by Singles Chat and will automatically be translated into their graphic counterpart. For easy to follow instructions on how to use them, click the "Help" button in the chat room or simply click here.


What If Something Said In The Chat Offends Me?

As stated on our chat page, "Our only rule is that you treat fellow chatters with respect" but unfortunately, not everyone follows the rules. If a chatter is using off-color language or in some other way is disturbing you, you can ignore them by typing "/ignore username". Any posts from that user will now be invisible to you.


Can Chatters Be Banned From The Room?

If someone in the chat room engages in disruptive behavior (including but not limited to flooding the room with repetitive posts) or harasses other chatters without provocation, they can be banned from the chat room by the site administrator or other chatters who may have been granted administrative privileges.


How Do I Use The Advanced Features In The Chat?

May I Advertise My Web Site In The Forums?

If you know of a site that might be of interest to our members and guests, you may post a description and it's URL in our "Share A Site" Forum. However, any singles site links (competitors of VPSingles.com) will be deleted as will sites with content deemed objectionable by the moderator (includes but is not limited to get-rich-quick schemes, pornographic images and the promotion of hate).

What Is The Virtual Playground?

The Virtual Playground For Singles was launched in August of 1996 as a place for online singles to "see and be seen". It got its start as a simple page of links and has grown to include such features as personal ads, match profiles, dating advice and of course our famous Singles Chat and VP Forums.

The VP moved to it's own domain in May of 2003 and continues to grow both by adding new site features and attracting more visitors from around the world.
